Luxembourg has made an additional contribution of EUR 8 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. This brings the country’s total contribution to the Fund to EUR 30 million.

“I am grateful to the Government of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency for their consistent support for Ukraine’s energy sector. This additional contribution will enable us to continue providing energy companies with the equipment they need and further strengthen the resilience of our power system. Together with our partners, we remain committed to ensuring that Ukrainian communities and businesses have access to electricity and heat despite all the challenges posed by the war,” said First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF) was established in spring 2022 with the agreement of the European Commission and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to help address the consequences of Russian attacks targeting critical energy infrastructure.

Since the Fund was established, it has received more than EUR 2 billion in grant funding from 39 foreign sponsors from 26 partner countries and three international organisations.

The Fund is an effective mechanism that enables governments, international financial institutions, international organisations and corporate donors to provide financial support to Ukraine’s energy sector in addressing the damage caused and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the energy system.
