First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Energy of Lithuania, Žygimantas Vaičiūnas.

The head of the Ministry of Energy expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its consistent support of Ukraine’s energy sector since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The assistance provided includes equipment for thermal and nuclear power plants, which enabled emergency repair works in several regions of Ukraine. In addition, Ukraine received more than 2,000 solar panels, as well as various types of equipment and machinery from Lithuanian partners. Lithuania has also contributed EUR 5.7 million to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund.

Denys Shmyhal briefed his Lithuanian counterpart on the current situation in Ukraine’s energy sector and Russia’s crimes against humanity.

“There is not a single power plant in Ukraine that has not been affected by Russian strikes. Ukrainian energy workers continue to repair damage and restore electricity supply to people around the clock. In the coming days, Lithuania is preparing a government decision to allocate additional energy assistance, including equipment for electricity generation to address challenges in Kyiv and the most critical regions. We are sincerely grateful for this support,” emphasized the Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
