Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine. The parties discussed the current situation in the energy sector, international assistance, and further areas of bilateral cooperation.

Roman Andarak informed the Japanese side about the consequences of Russia’s recent large-scale attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. In particular, several power generation facilities sustained damage. Despite this, Ukrainian energy companies continue to carry out rapid restoration works and ensure the stable operation of the system.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the urgent need to supply repair equipment, build strategic reserves of critical materials, and strengthen the protection of energy infrastructure. The Deputy Minister underlined that uninterrupted repair and restoration work is essential, as the availability of repair equipment directly enables the swift recovery of damaged facilities.

He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to ensure full transparency and close cooperation with partners to maintain confidence in international support mechanisms.

Special attention was given to the increased engagement of Japanese companies and the potential application of their advanced technologies in Ukraine’s energy recovery and resilience-building efforts.

The Japanese side confirmed its continued support for Ukraine’s energy sector through JICA and UNDP mechanisms, as well as its ongoing work to supply necessary equipment aimed at strengthening the resilience of the energy system. The parties agreed to maintain close coordination and continue exchanging expertise to ensure the effective implementation of restoration measures.

Roman Andarak expressed his gratitude to the Japanese partners for their steadfast support and active contribution to enhancing Ukraine’s energy resilience.
