Ireland Allocates an Additional EUR 25 Million to Restore Ukraine’s Energy Sector

04 February 2026, 14:45

Ireland has announced a new contribution of EUR 25 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing the country’s total contribution to EUR 27 million.

The additional funding is of critical importance for Ukraine, particularly at a time when Russia is deliberately targeting electricity and heat supply facilities during periods of severe frost.

“Support from our partners is the civilized world’s response to Russia’s blatant winter genocide against Ukrainians,” emphasized First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

“I would like to thank Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Helen McEntee, and Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Darragh O'Brien, for their support during this difficult time, as well as for the assistance already provided last year - EUR 2 million and 19 shipments of humanitarian aid with a total weight of more than 230 tonnes,” Denys Shmyhal said.

Since the establishment of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund in April 2022, 36 international partners have contributed more than EUR 1.6 billion to the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector.

The funds raised are being used to procure critically needed equipment and materials for emergency repairs, replace damaged assets, strengthen passive protection of energy facilities, and implement solutions that enhance the decentralization and resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.
