The Federal Foreign Office of Germany has transferred to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund the largest one-time contribution since the Fund’s inception – €160.11 million, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Mykola Kolisnyk, announced at a briefing.

In December alone, the Fund received €245 million in new contributions. In addition to the German Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action contributed €3 million through the German development bank KfW.

Mykola Kolisnyk emphasized that the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, managed by the Secretariat of the Energy Community, is one of the most effective mechanisms for supporting Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector, as its resources are directed toward purchasing equipment for energy companies and restoring infrastructure damaged by enemy attacks.

He stressed that, amid continuous and targeted Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, one of the Ministry’s priorities is cooperation with partners to replenish equipment for repair and restoration works.

“The Ministry of Energy actively and efficiently coordinates with our international partners in this area. During December alone, through a series of high-level international meetings, we received assurances of systematic support. The intensity of international assistance must match the intensity of enemy attacks. The delivery of necessary equipment must keep pace with the pace of attacks,” the Deputy Minister highlighted.

In addition to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, Ukrainian energy companies receive international humanitarian aid in equipment. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 1,995 humanitarian shipments totaling almost 26,000 tons have arrived in Ukraine from 38 countries, including equipment for emergency repairs after attacks and for scaling up distributed generation capacity.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine expresses its deep gratitude to all partner countries for their consistent support and solidarity with Ukraine in countering Russia’s energy terrorism, as well as for financial assistance and equipment aid.

Mykola Kolisnyk also reported on the ninth large-scale Russian attack of 2025 on energy infrastructure and stressed that Ukraine’s energy system has been under constant attacks for the fourth consecutive year: “The situation in the energy system remains challenging. Energy workers continue to eliminate the consequences of mass missile and drone attacks. Restoration works are conducted around the clock.”
