The Lithuanian state-owned company AB Energijos skirstymo operatorius, the country’s distribution network operator, will deliver another batch of equipment to Ukraine to support its energy sector. These arrangements were coordinated by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania.
Under the donation agreement, Ukraine will receive over 200 power transformers of various capacities. The equipment will be transported through the humanitarian aid and civil protection mechanism, funded and coordinated by the European Commission (ECHO). The humanitarian assistance is expected to arrive before the start of the heating season.
“We thank Lithuania for this outstanding support. These transformers are critically important for the rapid restoration of distribution networks damaged by Russian attacks, as well as for ensuring stable electricity supply to consumers during wartime. Partner support is especially vital as we prepare for the upcoming heating season,” emphasized Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk.
To respond quickly to enemy attacks and carry out emergency repairs, sufficient reserves of backup equipment are required. For this purpose, the Ministry of Energy has initiated the creation of a National Strategic Reserve of power transformers, which will include assistance from international partners.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 324 humanitarian shipments of energy equipment from Lithuania, totaling 5,247 tons.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Lithuania for their consistent and significant support of Ukraine since the onset of Russia’s brutal aggression. Lithuania’s substantial contribution to the restoration and strengthening of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure holds exceptional value for the Ukrainian state and its people.
