The Government’s Energy Headquarters Coordinated Further Steps to Stabilize the Energy System

The leadership of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine participated in a meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters on preparations for the autumn-winter period of 2025/26, chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov, together with Deputy Ministers Mykola Kolisnyk and Oleksandr Vyazovchenko, presented an update on the current state of Ukraine’s integrated energy system and the progress of restoration efforts at facilities damaged as a result of Russian attacks. Special attention was given to the accumulation of energy resources for the heating season and the implementation of measures to expand distributed generation capacities.

Ongoing Russian strikes have resulted in reduced domestic generation and diminished transmission capacity across trunk and distribution networks. Consequently, the balancing of the energy system increasingly relies on a combination of domestic production, electricity imports, and the application of forced consumption restrictions.

During the meeting, participants coordinated further actions aimed at restoring the energy system following enemy shelling, securing necessary reserves of fuel and equipment, strengthening physical protection of energy facilities, and increasing available generation capacity.

“The main task is to ensure that people have light,” emphasized Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The discussion also focused on the implementation of government decisions designed to reduce the electricity deficit in the power grid. In particular, participants reviewed the lists of critical infrastructure prioritized for electricity supply and examined progress in commissioning new distributed generation facilities.
