The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution “On Amendments to the Procedure for Conducting the Competition for the Construction of Generation Capacity and Implementation of Demand-Side Management Measures.”
This decision allows the completion of the ongoing competition process for the construction of generation capacity to meet the needs of Ukraine’s Unified Energy System (UES) for additional flexible generation reserves, primarily to ensure system balancing reliability, strengthen electricity supply security for consumers, attract investment, and promote competition in the electricity market.
The resolution introduces amendments to the procedure, enabling the new composition of the commission to review and approve the proposals already submitted by participants without the need for a repeated review of the competition submissions.
Additionally, these changes allow NEC Ukrenergo to conclude agreements with the winners of the competition based on the decisions of the updated commission.
