Government Decisions Will Enable More Even Load Distribution and Reduce Outages — Artem Nekrasov

The Government has approved a package of measures to ensure stable electricity supply to the population during the heating season. This was announced by the acting Minister of energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov during a live broadcast of the United News national telethon.

According to him, the current top priority is ensuring electricity supply to household consumers, especially in frontline regions where the burden on the power system is most acute.

“Our main priority today is the availability of electricity in the homes of Ukrainians, for household consumers, particularly in frontline regions,” Artem Nekrasov emphasized.

He noted that the Government’s decision will allow for a more even distribution of load among regions and reduce the number of queues within hourly outage schedules. At the same time, due to ongoing shelling and destruction of energy infrastructure, Ukraine’s Integrated Power System continues to operate under conditions of generation deficit.

Among the measures defined is a review of the lists of critically important facilities with guaranteed power supply to optimize them. This will make it possible to free up additional volumes of electricity for household needs. A comprehensive verification of distributed generation facilities in the regions is also envisaged to bring new capacities online directly at the local level.

Separately, Artem Nekrasov spoke about creating conditions for state-owned enterprises to purchase imported electricity, which currently serves as an important resource for maintaining balance in the power system.

Energy efficiency measures are also being strengthened, in particular with respect to limiting excessive outdoor lighting and illuminations, as well as excessive electricity consumption. At the same time, areas that must remain illuminated for road safety reasons are being identified.

Compliance with the implemented measures will be monitored by the State Energy Supervision Inspection of Ukraine.

“Energy workers begin restoration work immediately after the consequences of shelling are eliminated. Our task is to ensure that electricity distribution is fair and even,” Artem Nekrasov concluded.
