The German Federal Foreign Office has transferred EUR 160.11 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, representing the largest single contribution since the Fund began operating.

In addition, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy transferred a further EUR 3 million to the Fund through the German development bank KfW. This constitutes Germany’s second contribution in December, following an earlier transfer of EUR 4.5 million at the beginning of the month.

The previous record for a single contribution also belonged to Germany, which transferred EUR 99.5 million to the Fund in 2022. Another significant single contribution of EUR 96 million was made by the European Commission in 2024.

Overall, since the start of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, Germany’s total contributions to the Energy Support Fund have reached EUR 552.4 million.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government of Germany for its consistent and steadfast support during this extremely challenging period. Thanks to the support of international partners, Ukraine continues to withstand Russia’s energy terrorism, restore damaged energy infrastructure, and bring light and heat back to the homes of millions of Ukrainians.

“Such contributions represent not only substantial material support, but also a powerful signal of solidarity that strengthens our confidence in victory. The energy front is an integral part of Ukraine’s resistance to Russian aggression. The equipment procured with these funds will enable the development of distributed generation and contribute to the restoration and strengthening of the energy system. During the Christmas season, it is especially important to remember that light will prevail,” said Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
