The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, met with Friedrich Merz, leader of Germany's CDU/CSU bloc. Together, they visited one of Ukraine's energy facilities destroyed by russian shelling.
The head of the Ministry of Energy showed the German delegation the devastating consequences of enemy attacks on the energy sector, spoke about the restoration of the energy sector and the urgent needs for this process.
German Galushchenko expressed gratitude to Germany for its consistent support provided to Ukraine’s energy sector since the first days of russia's full-scale invasion.
In turn, Friedrich Merz assured that Germany would continue its support for Ukraine, particularly its energy sector.
Germany is the largest donor to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established in April 2022. Over its operation, the fund has become an effective tool for delivering international assistance in the energy sector. Thanks to the Fund, Ukrainian energy workers can restore facilities damaged by russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities. Germany's contributions to the Fund exceed €300 million.
Ukraine has also received 160 shipments of humanitarian aid from Germany in the form of energy equipment with a total weight of nearly 2,000 tons.
