04 December 2025, 12:36

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) will provide an additional EUR 100 million through the German development bank KfW to support the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure following massive Russian attacks. The funds will be transferred to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

With this decision, Germany’s total contribution to the Fund will reach EUR 550 million by the end of 2025, making it the Fund’s largest donor.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak noted that Germany’s assistance plays a critical role in ensuring the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system amid ongoing enemy attacks.

“We are sincerely grateful to Germany for its leadership in supporting our energy sector. The additional EUR 100 million is a highly significant contribution. These resources will enable energy companies to quickly procure the equipment needed to restore damaged facilities. Transparency in the use of funds remains our top priority in cooperation with partners,” emphasized Roman Andarak.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche stressed that Ukraine’s energy sector has effectively become another front line of the war, and that Germany will continue standing with Ukraine.

“Our additional EUR 100 million contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund sends a clear message: we will not abandon the Ukrainian people. Protecting energy supplies means protecting people - that is the essence of it.”

Since February 2022, total partner commitments to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund have exceeded EUR 1.75 billion.
