German Galushchenko Urged European Businesses to Invest More Actively in Ukraine's Energy Sector

Ukraine continues to work on the green transformation of its energy sector and the expansion of renewable energy capacities.

"From the very first days of the full-scale war, our energy sector has been the primary target of russian attacks. No energy system in the world has ever suffered such destruction. Yet despite these attacks, Ukraine still has electricity, still has heat, and still has a vision for the future. Our commitment to building a more sustainable energy system in Ukraine remains unwavering," said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, in a video address at an event dedicated to the business dimension of "On the Road to URC 2025," attended by about 350 Italian, Ukrainian, and international companies in Milan, Italy.

He noted that Ukraine aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65% compared to 1990 levels by 2030 and to achieve full climate neutrality in the energy sector by 2050. To reach these goals, the country is expanding renewable energy, developing more resilient distributed generation, and simplifying the connection of new capacities.

"But we cannot do this alone. The engagement of the private sector is crucial. We also need strong and accessible financial instruments and support from our international partners. Together, we will create partnerships and attract investments that will drive Ukraine’s green transformation—ensuring a stronger and more sustainable future for all of us," the Minister added.
