Minister of Energy German Galushchenko met in Vienna with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to discuss the necessity of continuing the Agency's missions at all substations critical for the safe operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
The minister informed the IAEA Director General about the consequences of a recent large-scale russian attack, which targeted, among other things, substations crucial for the power output of nuclear units.
"Despite previous IAEA missions and experts documenting the importance of the substations' operation as a guarantee of nuclear and radiation safety at Ukraine's nuclear power plants, the attacks are only intensifying. We must continue monitoring to document the consequences of these attacks and prevent such incidents in the future," stated German Galushchenko.
In response, the IAEA Director General assured that the Agency is ready to organize the necessary missions as soon as possible.
The Minister of Energy also discussed with Rafael Grossi the situation at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which faced the threat of a blackout again this morning due to enemy shelling.
German Galushchenko emphasized the urgent need to implement the IAEA resolution calling for Ukraine to regain control over the plant.-
