Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held a meeting with representatives of the U.S. company Exceed Geo Energy to discuss the development of geothermal energy in Ukraine.
“Given the risks triggered by Russian aggression, diversifying energy sources is crucial for ensuring stable electricity supply and increasing domestic generation. Geothermal energy is a promising source of low-carbon baseload power and offers opportunities for flexible and decentralized production,” Roman Andarak emphasized.
The Deputy Minister also stressed that the development of geothermal capacities aligns with Ukraine’s goals of integrating its energy sector into the European energy market, and noted that Ukraine has significant potential in this area.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the alignment of regulatory frameworks and business models for future cooperation between Exceed Geo Energy and Ukrainian energy companies. They also focused on the technical parameters for constructing a pilot geothermal project in Ukraine using the unique advanced technologies and equipment of Exceed Geo Energy.
Representatives of Exceed Geo Energy expressed strong solidarity with the Ukrainian people in resisting Russian military aggression and confirmed their readiness to deepen partnership with the Ukrainian government and energy companies at this stage.
