Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk took part in the opening of the G7 Energy Ministers’ Summit in Toronto, where she provided partners with a detailed overview of the challenges and needs of Ukraine’s energy system.
“Over the past months, Russia has waged a deliberate campaign to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Just last night, our energy system suffered a combined attack — more than 650 drones and over 50 missiles of various types,” she emphasized.
Ukraine’s G7 partners condemned Russia’s continued massive attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure and reaffirmed their readiness to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor and provide the necessary support to protect and restore energy facilities.
The Minister highlighted that G7 countries have already made significant contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and provided large-scale material and technical assistance, which has become a key element of the energy sector’s stability.
“As President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy consistently emphasizes, new steps are needed to increase pressure on Russia to force the aggressor to sit down at the negotiating table. Together, we must compel Russia to stop the war and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. I thank our G7 partners for their consistent support and commitment to Ukraine’s energy security,” noted Svitlana Grynchuk.
