France Supports the Development of Ukraine's Nuclear Energy Sector

23 December 2024, 16:25

France has allocated €5.7 million to Ukraine Energy Support Fund for the development of Ukraine's nuclear sector.

The agreement was signed by Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, and Pierre Heilbronn, France’s Special Envoy for Assistance and Reconstruction of Ukraine, in the presence of Ukraine's Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, during the international Rebuild Ukraine Construction and Energy 2024 Conference in Warsaw.

"Ukraine and France are consistently strengthening cooperation in the energy sector. We receive substantial support from this country and share a vision, particularly regarding partnership development in the nuclear field. We thank our French partners for this contribution and for France's recognition of the importance of nuclear generation in ensuring the sustainability and strengthening of any energy system. France supports Ukraine's aspirations to develop nuclear energy and is ready to assist us in reinforcing our energy infrastructure," noted Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko.

It should be recalled that the total commitments of donors for grant contributions to Ukraine Energy Support Fund have exceeded €1 billion. The Fund was established in April 2022 through the joint initiative of Minister of Energy German Galushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson under the Energy Community Secretariat. Since its creation, the Fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy companies to recover from Russian attacks, conduct repairs, and install new capacities.
