Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk held a meeting with the Ambassador of France to Ukraine, Gaël Veyssière. They discussed key cooperation priorities in the Ukrainian energy sector ahead of the heating season.

“Protecting energy infrastructure from Russian shelling, strengthening the security of facilities, and attracting international assistance remain the main tasks for successfully passing through the heating season. We highly value France’s support, in particular the provision of expert assistance and participation in joint projects,” emphasized Svitlana Grynchuk.

The Minister informed the Ambassador about Ukraine’s needs in creating a reserve of critical equipment and materials necessary for the stable supply of electricity, heat, and gas. The parties also discussed opportunities for co-financing projects of Ukrainian energy companies with the participation of French companies.

Special attention was given to cooperation in the modernization of electricity grids, in particular the introduction of “smart” management systems, as well as the development of cooperation in the nuclear sector. The parties agreed to continue the dialogue with the participation of French businesses during the international conference REBUILD UKRAINE: Construction & Energy in Warsaw.

Svitlana Grynchuk highlighted the contribution of the Government of France, in particular the secondment to the Ministry of Energy of Jérôme Beton de Sèze, who provides expert support in reforming and strengthening Ukraine’s energy system on the path towards the EU.

The Minister thanked the Government of France for its consistent assistance and stressed: “The French Republic is a reliable partner of Ukraine, which has already made significant contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, provided humanitarian aid, and is implementing joint energy projects with us. I am confident that we will have concrete results on each of them and will continue to expand the range of ideas and initiatives.”
