The Ministry of Energy hosted a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ukrainian–Danish Energy Partnership Programme. Participants reviewed the results of six months of joint work, discussed key areas of cooperation for 2026, and outlined long-term strategic priorities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territorial Development Maryna Denysiuk, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Thomas Lund-Sørensen, Head of the Mykolaiv Office of the Embassy Jakob Torild Hansen, Deputy Director General of the Danish Energy Agency Iben Møller Søndergaard, as well as representatives of Ukrainian energy companies.
“We highly value our partnership with Denmark in the energy sector. With the support of the Danish side, we continue to restore and rebuild our energy sector in line with European standards and counter Russia’s continued attempts to destroy our energy system,” said Deputy Minister Roman Andarak.
He noted that Denmark was the first country to contribute to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, and its current contribution amounts to EUR 58 million. Most of this assistance is directed toward the procurement of critically important equipment for the Mykolaiv region. In addition, one of the largest energy investment projects involving Danish partners is already being implemented in Ukraine - an example of a cooperation model that the Government is now demonstrating to other partners as proven and effective.
Within the framework of the Ukrainian–Danish Energy Partnership Programme, joint efforts continue to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security, decentralize generation, and accelerate the deployment of renewable energy sources. Development of the biogas and biomethane market is also a priority area, where Denmark’s experience - having achieved biomethane production covering more than one-third of domestic gas consumption - is particularly valuable for Ukraine.
“We highly appreciate the conclusions of the European Commission’s Enlargement Report, prepared during Denmark’s presidency. The Ministry of Energy is now focused on implementing all recommendations, and we welcome continued cooperation with the Danish side to further harmonize Ukrainian energy legislation with EU standards,” Mr. Andarak emphasized.
Ambassador of Denmark Thomas Lund-Sørensen reiterated that Ukraine’s EU membership remains a high political priority for Denmark, which will continue to support Ukraine’s integration path. Danish partners also reaffirmed their readiness to support Ukraine in strengthening energy resilience amid ongoing Russian attacks. During the meeting, the Ukraine–Denmark Transition Programme (UTP) was presented, and initial preparations began for the new phase of the EU–Denmark Partnership and Cooperation Agreement for 2027–2031.
