European Council Strongly Condemns Russia for Systematic and Deliberate Attacks on Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure

The relevant conclusions were published today following the meeting of the European Council, held with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The final document (EUCO 2/26) was endorsed by 25 Heads of State and Government.

As noted by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the published conclusions send a strong signal of unity and long-term support for Ukraine and for Europe’s security.

“We are grateful for the European Council’s call to further strengthen support for Ukraine in urgent repairs, recovery, and enhancing the resilience of our energy system. The resilience of Ukraine’s energy system today is an investment in the security of the whole of Europe tomorrow,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

He also noted that the Ukraine Support Loan amounting to EUR 90 billion is critically important for Ukraine’s financial stability and expressed gratitude to partners for consolidating efforts to mobilize additional financial support.
