Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk met with Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ukraine Office, Mr. Osamu Hattori.
“I was pleased to welcome Mr. Osamu Hattori, Chief Representative of the JICA Ukraine Office, on his first visit to the Ministry of Energy following his appointment. We updated ongoing areas of cooperation with JICA and outlined new priorities,” the Minister wrote on her Facebook page.
The discussion focused on the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and the sector’s urgent needs — in particular, rapid-repair equipment and mobile energy solutions to enhance resilience in frontline regions.
Minister Grynchuk informed Mr. Hattori about the agreements reached with Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Kenji Yamada, during her participation in the G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto, and discussed specific directions for joint work with JICA in this context.
The parties also explored opportunities for cooperation with Japanese energy companies and the deployment of advanced Japanese technologies in Ukraine’s energy sector.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Japan for its ongoing support of Ukraine’s energy sector — including the supply of equipment, specialized machinery, and gabions — noting that this assistance plays an essential role in strengthening Ukraine’s energy stability.
