Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk took part in the Ministerial Meeting of the Central and South-Eastern European Energy Connectivity (CESEC) Group, held in Bucharest.
The participants reviewed the achievements of ten years of cooperation under the CESEC initiative and outlined priority projects for further regional energy collaboration.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was an agreement to introduce a discounted tariff for Route 1 of the Trans-Balkan Corridor, which will ensure cost-effective LNG supplies to Ukraine.
“Ukraine aims to diversify gas supply routes as much as possible and to secure supplies at the most favorable prices. This decision is extremely important, especially on the eve of winter. We are grateful to our partners for their support and for setting a competitive tariff that enables us to contract LNG on advantageous terms,” - stated Mykola Kolisnyk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
This decision represents a significant step toward the gradual displacement of Russian gas from the European market and the strengthening of Europe’s overall energy security.
Additionally, the meeting participants discussed opportunities to increase the capacity of existing infrastructure and to develop new gas and electricity supply routes in the region, aimed at improving energy market liquidity and balancing consumption.
