On the sidelines of the G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk joined her counterparts for thematic sessions focused on nuclear energy development, diversification of critical minerals supply chains, and digitalization of the energy sector.
Svitlana Grynchuk emphasized that, despite the ongoing war, Ukraine has strong potential in the critical minerals market and is ready to be an active participant in global supply chains.
“Ukraine has every opportunity to help transform global critical raw materials (CRM) supply chains — reducing dependence on Russian resources and lowering reliance on China,” noted the Minister.
The participants also exchanged experience and plans in the field of nuclear energy. Svitlana Grynchuk highlighted that Ukraine’s experience is unique in terms of ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities. Partners expressed readiness to adapt nuclear safety standards and operational rules to the new global security realities.
The discussion on “Energy Innovation” addressed the digital transformation of the energy sector and the growing role of artificial intelligence in managing and balancing complex energy systems. Svitlana Grynchuk stressed that Ukraine is making rapid progress in digital technologies and remains open to cooperation with G7 countries in advancing innovation.
“Working together on innovative solutions is the way to strengthen global energy security,” underlined Svitlana Grynchuk.
