First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal chaired a meeting of the Energy Headquarters following another overnight attack on energy infrastructure.
“Last night, Russia once again targeted our energy infrastructure. We heard reports from the relevant services on the aftermath response. The air defence forces repelled the attack with dignity. We are grateful to them,” he stated.
According to the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy, the shelling resulted in damage to energy facilities.
“Unfortunately, as a result of the attacks, several high-voltage transmission lines were subject to emergency disconnections today. To balance the system, we were forced to temporarily reduce the capacity of nuclear generation. In addition, Ukrenergo introduced additional restriction schedules across the deficit-affected part of the power system,” Denys Shmyhal reported.
A separate part of the Energy Headquarters meeting focused on coordinating international assistance and strengthening cooperation with European partners to restore energy infrastructure.
“This week, in line with agreements reached during the ministerial meeting in Paris, our specialists are visiting Slovakia, Austria, and Croatia to assess the possibility of obtaining equipment from decommissioned combined heat and power plants. In the near future, we also expect more than €23 million from partners to be allocated to the Energy Support Fund. We are grateful to our partners for their assistance,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
