First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a conversation with the Minister of Economy, Finance, Industry, Energy and Digital Sovereignty of France, Roland Lescure.
The Head of the Ministry of Energy informed his counterpart about the difficult situation in Ukraine’s energy sector resulting from Russia’s targeted attacks on civilian energy infrastructure facilities.
Denys Shmyhal outlined Ukraine’s urgent priorities for the recovery of the energy sector and expressed gratitude for France’s readiness to provide additional assistance in the form of generators.
Since March 2022, Ukraine has received 46 consignments of humanitarian aid with energy equipment from France. In addition, the French Republic has contributed EUR 5.7 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
“I expressed my gratitude to my colleague for France’s support of the EUR 90 billion Ukraine Support Loan. It is important to allocate funds within the EUR 30 billion budgetary component specifically for energy recovery. This is critically important for our resilience. We count on France’s continued support,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
Denys Shmyhal and Roland Lescure also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. The Head of the Ministry of Energy thanked France for its support within the framework of the IAEA’s work.
