As part of his working visit to Kharkiv Region, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal visited key heat and power generation facilities in the region. In particular, he inspected the progress of works aimed at strengthening protective structures at energy facilities.
The Minister discussed key operational decisions and further coordination measures with the management of energy companies and received updates on repair and recovery works, as well as projected generation capacities that will be available in the region ahead of the next winter season.
Denys Shmyhal stressed that preparations of Kharkiv Region’s energy sector for the upcoming heating season are proceeding according to plan.
“Work is ongoing to ensure that the region is as prepared as possible for the next winter,” the Minister noted.
Participants also coordinated further steps to prepare the region for the heating season, including priority needs of energy enterprises in terms of equipment and technical solutions.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy emphasized that, to address the urgent needs of Kharkiv Region, the Ministry will continue active cooperation with the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and international partners.
“It is important to build sufficient reserves of energy resources and critical equipment. We are expecting the delivery of equipment from the decommissioned Riga Combined Heat and Power Plant to energy facilities in Kharkiv Region. We are grateful to our Latvian partners for this support,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
