First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal participated in a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and President of the European Council António Costa.
The parties discussed strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system and preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter period.
“We thank Europe for standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. We feel this support in the most difficult moments. The European Union has developed a plan to support Ukraine through the next winter,” said the Minister of Energy.
Denys Shmyhal expressed gratitude to Ursula von der Leyen for the continued support of Ukraine’s energy sector and for announcing a EUR 920 million assistance package entitled “Repair, Rebuild, Restart,” aimed at supporting Ukraine through the next winter season.
“We highly appreciate this support. The details of the plan will be discussed during the Energy ‘Ramstein’ meeting in March,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
He also thanked the European Union for the transfer of 500 generators to support the energy system and critical infrastructure. According to him, this timely assistance has contributed to stabilizing the situation and maintaining system reliability.
Together with European partners, Ukraine continues to restore damaged infrastructure and strengthen national energy security.
“Together, we are rebuilding our infrastructure and doing everything possible to ensure that light prevails over darkness,” Denys Shmyhal concluded.
