Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, a regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies for Kyiv and the region was held. Reports were presented by representatives of energy companies, the Ministry for Development, and the regional and city authorities.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that repair works at electricity generation and distribution facilities are being carried out around the clock. Due to low temperatures expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, complex outage schedules will remain in place, similar to current measures, despite partial daytime support from solar generation.
The Minister also noted that the list of critical infrastructure facilities is under review. Priority electricity supply will be ensured for hospitals, water utilities, and social facilities, while other institutions will be gradually transferred to autonomous operation and provided with generators.
“This step will free up more electricity for household consumers,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
During the meeting, the issue of fair electricity distribution was addressed. Denys Shmyhal instructed the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision to conduct checks to ensure equal conditions for all consumers.
The Minister further reported the receipt of 78 tons of international assistance. In total, 14 aid shipments arrived at the Ministry of Energy’s hubs today, including five power transformers from Azerbaijan and ten high-capacity generators from Italy. Additional assistance from the EU, Austria, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, UNDP, and UNICEF/WASH is already en route. “We are grateful to all our partners for their continued support,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
