Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, the next meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of Emergency Consequences in Kyiv and the Kyiv region was held, during which the situation regarding electricity and heat supply in the region was discussed.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the situation in Kyiv remains difficult due to low temperatures. Energy workers continue to operate around the clock to eliminate the consequences of recent Russian attacks. At the same time, all scheduled power outage plans were maintained in the capital today.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy emphasized the importance of strengthening technical cooperation with partners and exploring the possibility of involving additional equipment from countries where thermal power plants are currently inactive, as these plants could serve as sources of spare parts needed to restore Ukraine’s energy system.
Regarding assistance from international partners, the head of the Ministry of Energy noted that four high-capacity generators from the Belgian development agency Enabel have recently arrived in Ukraine. They were procured and delivered in the shortest possible time—just three weeks from the Ministry of Energy’s request.
“In total, 500 generators from the EU are on their way to Ukraine. Overall, this week we plan to dispatch approximately 140 tons of equipment to recipients,” highlighted the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy.
Denys Shmyhal expressed gratitude to all partners for their assistance, as well as to Ukrainian energy workers, railway staff, heating specialists, and rescue teams for their work.
