The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, reappointing Denys Shmyhal as First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine. Following his appointment, the Minister outlined the Ministry's key priorities for the period ahead.

"I am honoured to once again serve as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy," Denys Shmyhal said.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy noted that during the first six months in office, he and his team had achieved tangible results that now need to be built upon.

The first priority is preparation for the upcoming winter. More than 4 GW of generation capacity has already been restored, while more than 11 GW is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance.

The second priority is the development of new generation capacity and the energy market. In particular, the Ministry of Energy has launched a competitive tender for the construction of 1.5 GW of new generation capacity and initiated support auctions for renewable energy projects.

The third priority is integration into the European energy market. Preparations are continuing for the full integration of Ukraine's and the European Union's energy markets.

The fourth priority is the reform of state-owned enterprise governance. Supervisory boards of key state-owned companies have been renewed, and the reorganisation of selected state assets has begun.

The fifth priority is digitalisation and long-term modernisation. One of the flagship initiatives will be the "Single Utility Bill" application, designed to provide citizens with convenient access to utility services and modern digital solutions.
