First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal paid a working visit to the Kharkiv region, where he held a coordination meeting on the state of electricity, heat, and water supply. During the meeting, participants heard reports from the Head of the Regional State Administration, representatives of the regional energy company, and sector experts on the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and the region’s priority needs.

According to Denys Shmyhal, all equipment required for the rapid restoration of the region’s energy system will be supplied from the Ministry of Energy’s logistical hubs. Relevant requests to international partners are already being prepared. In addition, supplementary repair equipment has been ordered through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

Special attention was given to the protection of energy facilities. “A significant amount of work has already been carried out in the Kharkiv region, without going into details. However, we must continue and further strengthen these efforts. The President of Ukraine has instructed local authorities to prepare plans to protect energy infrastructure ahead of the next heating season. We expect city and regional authorities to submit these plans by 1 September,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

As part of the visit, the Minister of Energy inspected the consequences of enemy strikes on energy facilities in the Kharkiv region, examined damaged engineering protection structures, and reviewed the progress of repair works. He noted that the attacks had left approximately 100,000 households without centralized heating.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that thanks to protective measures, key equipment at damaged energy facilities was preserved. He also expressed his gratitude to repair crews and energy workers for their round-the-clock efforts to restore electricity and heat to Ukrainian homes.
