A regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies in Kyiv and the Kyiv region was held under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. Participants discussed the state of the energy system following another massive Russian attack on infrastructure facilities in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and other regions.

According to the head of the Ministry of Energy, due to systematic enemy strikes on generation and distribution facilities, a significant capacity deficit persists in the energy system. In particular, more than 800,000 consumers in Kyiv remain without electricity as a result of emergency outages.

Denys Shmyhal reported that to accelerate repair works, more than 143 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been distributed from one of the Ministry of Energy’s hubs over the past few days. The equipment has been delivered to energy companies in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as to Sumy, Kharkiv, and other regions. This includes critically important equipment such as generators, power transformers, cable products, and pumps.

“We plan to transfer part of the generators received from international partners to State Emergency Service heating points in order to provide people with electricity during outages. We also expect additional equipment from Slovakia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Italy, Latvia, and Poland,” Denys Shmyhal stated.

Members of the Headquarters coordinated their actions to restore heat supply in the capital. Denys Shmyhal also emphasized the importance of strengthening support for vulnerable population groups amid the emergency situation in the energy sector.
