Denys Shmyhal Outlines Restoration of CHP Plants Damaged by Russian Shelling

First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported that Ukrainian engineers have conducted inspections of decommissioned power plants in EU countries to identify equipment needed for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

According to him, eight facilities have been inspected in Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria, and Croatia. Equipment at the Riga CHP plant has been identified as being of interest to Ukrainian energy companies. A corresponding request has been submitted to facilitate the transfer of this equipment to Ukraine.

Denys Shmyhal also noted that agreements have been reached with the Netherlands on the supply of equipment for Ukrnafta, Ukrgazvydobuvannya, and Ukrtransgaz.

“We are already starting the reconstruction process, while strengthening the protection of energy facilities to ensure maximum readiness for the next winter,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
