First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the Supervisory Board of NNEGC Energoatom, chaired by Rumina Velshi.

“We discussed the company’s tasks as part of preparations for the autumn-winter period. Nuclear generation remains the backbone of Ukraine’s power system. Scheduled maintenance is currently underway at NPP units to ensure they are fully prepared to operate under peak winter loads,” Denys Shmyhal noted.

The meeting also focused on Energoatom’s projects, including the development of nuclear generation and the establishment of a vertically integrated holding company on the basis of Energoatom, which will include, among other enterprises, the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant.

“Our goal is for Ukraine to have a complete technological cycle – from uranium ore extraction and uranium concentrate production to electricity generation,” the Minister of Energy emphasized.

The participants also discussed corporate governance at Energoatom, which is essential for the development and stability of the energy sector. Priority areas of work were identified to further enhance the company’s efficiency.

“I am grateful to the Supervisory Board for its daily efforts to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system,” Denys Shmyhal concluded.
