First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with representatives of the IMF mission, headed by Gavin Gray, who are visiting Kyiv.

The parties discussed the situation in the energy sector and Ukraine’s needs in strengthening its energy resilience.

Particular attention was paid to reforms in the energy sector, which must continue even under martial law.

“In particular, we are aligning our legislation with European standards and continuing the corporate governance reform of energy companies. Together with the World Bank, we are working on an updated Energy Strategy. We are preparing for the winter: completing scheduled repairs of nuclear power units, restoring damaged generation capacity, developing distributed generation, including cogeneration,” Denys Shmyhal said.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy thanked the partners for their longstanding support for the financial stability of Ukraine and their continued readiness to cooperate towards developing a financially sustainable and resilient Ukrainian energy sector.
