First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.

The Minister of Energy thanked the IAEA for its continued support for Ukraine and for the work of the Agency’s experts at Ukrainian energy facilities.

“A week ago, the IAEA completed its eighth special mission to 13 electrical substations whose stable operation is important for maintaining nuclear and radiation safety. We look forward to the continued presence of IAEA missions at our facilities,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

He also expressed his appreciation to the IAEA for implementing initiatives aimed at supporting Ukrainian nuclear energy workers and their families.

The parties also discussed further coordination of efforts to independently assess the risks and condition of critical energy infrastructure, as well as the development of additional measures to strengthen nuclear safety in Ukraine.
