First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting on the operation of the oil products market under martial law. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Environment, the Ministry for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport, the State Tax Service, the State Customs Service, the Antimonopoly Committee, as well as business representatives.

“I heard reports on the current situation. At present, the market remains controlled and balanced, and available resources are sufficient to meet consumers’ current needs,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

A number of measures are being implemented to ensure that the situation in the market remains stable and manageable:

• The Government has launched a pilot project on underground fuel storage. Ukraine will develop a comprehensive system of underground storage facilities and ensure appropriate conditions for the safe storage of oil products. The priority is to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of diesel fuel, first and foremost for defence needs and critical infrastructure.
• Work continues to diversify supply routes. Particular attention is currently being paid to the Romanian route. Following the recent meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Romania Nicușor Dan, concrete agreements were reached to expand the logistical capacity of rail and river routes through Romania. The two sides are working at the governmental level to implement these agreements.
• Fuel reserves are being increased. As of early September, according to data from the State Customs Service, the State Tax Service and market operators, fuel reserves are sufficient to maintain the current level of consumption.

“These steps have helped stabilize the fuel market. All stakeholders involved continue to closely monitor the situation,” First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal concluded.
