During a working visit to the Odesa region, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the leadership of the Regional Military Administration and heads of energy enterprises to discuss preparations for the 2026/2027 autumn-winter period.

“Particular attention is being paid to restoring damaged equipment and establishing protective structures. For our part, we are strengthening the region with the necessary equipment. Since 2022, enterprises in the Odesa region have received 563.1 tonnes of humanitarian assistance, including 262.4 tonnes this year alone. This includes generators, transformers, solar panels and other essential equipment,” the Minister of Energy said.

The purchase of critical equipment worth €130.7 million from the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has been approved for enterprises in the region. To date, contracts totalling approximately €41.2 million have been signed, of which equipment worth €26.5 million has already been delivered to the region.

“We are also continuing to develop distributed generation. With the support of UNDP, new generation capacity totalling 94.8 MW is being developed in the Odesa region. In particular, 11 cogeneration units, 4 generation units, 4 gas-piston units and one gas-turbine unit have been procured and delivered. We are also grateful to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for delivering 24 generators with a total capacity of 4.18 MW,” Denys Shmyhal noted.

Fifteen healthcare facilities in the Odesa region have been included in the implementation of the “Ray of Hope” project. Six of them already have their own electricity generation from solar power plants with a total capacity of 0.83 MW.

“Preparations for winter are proceeding according to the established plan. All those responsible have specific tasks. We are monitoring their implementation and the readiness of the region’s energy infrastructure,” First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy concluded.
