First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with members of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo.
The parties discussed the key tasks currently facing the company, including the restoration of facilities damaged by Russia, expansion of electricity transmission capacity, construction and modernization of interconnectors, and the implementation of cross-border projects with EU countries. Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the Ministry of Energy is providing full support in these processes.
The meeting participants also addressed the company’s needs. The Minister outlined the vision for the energy sector development strategy being prepared in cooperation with the World Bank. He stressed the important role of corporate governance in this process and recalled the completion of the formation of supervisory boards in state-owned energy companies, including NPC Ukrenergo.
The parties also discussed in detail reforms related to European integration.
“Our goal is to complete the integration of Ukraine’s energy market into the EU market and to implement the OECD guidelines in state-owned energy companies. Ukraine is already part of the interconnected European network ENTSO-E, and we aim to further increase our capacity for electricity imports from the EU,” the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy emphasized.
He thanked the company’s specialists for their dedicated and professional work throughout the past winter and noted that efforts are already underway to build equipment reserves and prepare for the next heating season. The Minister underscored the need to enhance preparedness and responsiveness to emerging challenges.
“We expect productive cooperation and a high level of responsibility in achieving our shared goals,” Denys Shmyhal concluded.
