First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, together with international partners, visited key facilities of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and reviewed the condition of the New Safe Confinement on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.
The focus was on restoring its protective functions, which were damaged as a result of a Russian drone attack in February 2025.
International partners witnessed firsthand the consequences of Russia’s nuclear terror and the scale of challenges Ukraine faces in restoring the facility.
“We thank the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for consolidating efforts to restore the confinement, and we are grateful to all countries that have expressed readiness to contribute,” Denys Shmyhal stated.
