As part of his working visit to the French Republic, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with William Magwood, Director-General of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA). They discussed further integration of Ukraine into the international nuclear community and deepening cooperation with the NEA.
“Ukraine seeks to become a full member of the Agency and join its Data Bank. We have already submitted the relevant application. I thank Mr Magwood for supporting this initiative. Accession to the NEA will give our specialists access to specialised software, scientific databases, research findings and the Agency’s expert work,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.
He noted that nuclear energy will form the basis of Ukraine’s new energy architecture, and therefore Ukraine is interested in developing new nuclear capacity and exchanging experience.
The Minister of Energy expressed gratitude to the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency for many years of fruitful cooperation, its readiness to continue supporting Ukraine and its commitment to deepening the partnership.
