First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands.

They discussed areas of cooperation under the Roadmap for Energy Cooperation, signed at the end of June on the sidelines of URC2026 in Gdańsk.

According to Denys Shmyhal, a key priority is strengthening Ukraine’s air defence. He stressed that this is essential not only to protect energy facilities, critical and social infrastructure, but also to safeguard people’s lives. The Minister of Energy expressed hope for consolidated international efforts in this area.

During the online meeting, Denys Shmyhal thanked the Netherlands for its substantial support to Ukraine’s energy sector.

“Ukraine has already received 310 humanitarian shipments of equipment from the Netherlands, with a total weight of nearly 4,400 tonnes, including hundreds of transformers and generators, electrical equipment, cables and equipment for the gas sector. We expect further deliveries,” Denys Shmyhal noted, “We highly value the Netherlands’ contribution of approximately €100 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. We expect a further €20 million from the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the near future. I expressed my gratitude to my colleague for his willingness to help mobilize additional contributions from other donors as well.”

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy invited Sjoerd Sjoerdsma and representatives of Dutch businesses to hold a meeting in Kyiv, emphasizing the importance Ukraine attaches to the partnership between the two countries.
