A meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies in Kyiv and the Kyiv region was held under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. Participants discussed the progress of restoration works and focused on concrete plans for installing cogeneration units, laying new power transmission lines, and constructing new generation facilities.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized the importance of stable and autonomous operation of base stations, mobile networks, and internet services during power outages. “People must remain connected and have access to information under any conditions,” the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy stressed.
According to Denys Shmyhal, a significant electricity deficit persists in the capital, and emergency power outages remain in effect. He reported that, as of today, more than 800,000 consumers in Kyiv remain without electricity, the same number as yesterday.
Work to restore heat supply in Kyiv is also ongoing. Two cogeneration units were delivered to the city in recent days, with the delivery of two additional units expected next week. To ensure uninterrupted operation of large generators supplying critical facilities and residential buildings, the Headquarters instructed that an additional 50 tonnes of diesel fuel be allocated from the Ministry of Energy’s reserves.
“We have decided to allocate an additional 50 tonnes of diesel fuel from the Ministry of Energy’s reserves to support the operation of large generators supplying critical facilities and residential buildings. According to the Ministry for Communities and Territorial Development, 166 crews worked throughout the day to address the consequences of Russian attacks. At night, 74 crews will continue working,” Denys Shmyhal reported.
He added that 17 additional crews from Chernihiv, Ternopil, Poltava, and Vinnytsia will arrive in the capital tomorrow, with a further 20 crews ready to be deployed if necessary.
Denys Shmyhal expressed sincere condolences over the tragic death of a State Emergency Service rescuer during emergency recovery operations in the capital and recalled how difficult and dangerous the work of energy workers, rescuers, and utility personnel is under wartime conditions.
“This morning, the terrorist state also carried out a targeted strike on an energy facility in the Mykolaiv region. As a result of the attack, an electrician sustained multiple shrapnel wounds. We wish our colleague a speedy recovery. I am grateful to everyone who continues to work in these extremely difficult conditions for the sake of the people,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
