Denmark will provide DKK 150 million (approximately EUR 20 million) in additional support to meet the urgent needs of Ukraine’s energy sector.
The assistance includes:
- DKK 80 million as a contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund;
- DKK 30 million through UNOPS Ukraine and Eastern Europe for equipment to protect energy facilities;
- DKK 40 million through partners capable of delivering emergency assistance as quickly as possible.
In addition, Denmark has already transferred used equipment from the Asnæs Power Station to Ukraine. This equipment is critically needed by Ukrainian energy companies to carry out restoration works at facilities damaged by Russian attacks.
“I would like to thank Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and my colleague, Minister Lars Aagaard, for their continued support of Ukrainians during this difficult winter,” said Denys Shmyhal.
Denmark has been providing systematic support to Ukraine’s energy sector since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In the spring of 2022, Denmark became the first donor to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which now unites 36 countries and continues to mobilize resources for the procurement of critical energy equipment. Danish partners also support the implementation of projects aimed at strengthening energy resilience, particularly in regions close to the front line.
