The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, held a meeting with a French delegation headed by the Special Envoy of the President of France for Ukraine's Relief and Reconstruction Pierre Heilbronn.
German Galushchenko informed the representatives of the French side about Ukraine’s successful passage through the most difficult winter, despite regular enemy attacks on energy facilities.
“Nuclear energy played a very important role in getting through this difficult winter, as it provided generation and covered the basic consumption needs. Despite enemy attacks, including on substations critical to the operation of nuclear power plants, we managed to keep the power system stable. And our work and struggle continues,” the Minister said.
The head of the Ministry of Energy outlined to the partners the key directions along which preparations for the next heating season have already begun, and presented the main needs for supporting the resilience of Ukraine’s energy sector.
The parties discussed the continuation of cooperation in the nuclear sector, in particular the implementation of ongoing projects for the supply of equipment for nuclear power plants, the conduct of repairs, and the replacement of equipment at nuclear power stations. German Galushchenko thanked France for its contribution of 5.7 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund for the development of projects in the Ukrainian nuclear sector.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in the uranium industry, renewable energy, the development of power grids, and energy storage systems.
Special attention was given to issues of Ukraine’s integration into European energy markets and the involvement of expert assistance from the French side to accelerate this process.
