Briefing by First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov on the Situation in the Energy System as of 22 January

- The situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains difficult. Repair crews of energy workers and heating utility employees are working continuously to eliminate the consequences of Russia’s ongoing attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.

- As a result of overnight enemy attacks, consumers in the Odesa, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions are without electricity as of this morning. Emergency repair and restoration works have commenced wherever the security situation allows.

- In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the situation remains challenging. Over 160 crews are working to restore electricity and heat in the capital. Heat generation has been partially stabilized, generators are operating at critical facilities, and State Emergency Service (SES) aid points have been deployed.

- Distribution system operators in Kyiv and the region continue to implement network restrictions. As in previous weeks, network restrictions remain in effect in Odesa.

- In most regions, emergency outages are being applied due to equipment overload amid high consumption levels. A return to predictable hourly outage schedules will take place after stabilization of the energy system.

- Due to severe weather conditions, 11 settlements in the Poltava region have been left without electricity. Repair crews are working to restore power.

- As a result of massive attacks by the Russian Federation, a state of emergency remains in effect in Ukraine’s energy system.

- The First Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to all services working around the clock under extremely difficult conditions to restore electricity and heat to Ukrainian homes.
