- Overnight, the enemy carried out a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy and civilian infrastructure. Facilities of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Region were targeted. In total, the enemy used nearly 500 attack UAVs and around 40 missiles, including Kinzhal-type missiles. Attacks continued throughout the day.
- As a result of the shelling, substations and overhead power transmission lines, as well as certain generation facilities, sustained significant damage. Consequently, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and Kyiv Region. In most regions of Ukraine, scheduled hourly power outages and power limitation schedules for industry and business remain in effect.
- As of 15:00, more than 500,000 consumers in Kyiv and Kyiv Region were without electricity. Power outages have also been recorded in other regions due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. In particular, more than 22,000 consumers in Chernihiv Region remain without power.
- The Integrated Power System of Ukraine remains intact and continues to operate in parallel with the power system of Continental Europe. Electricity imports are used to balance the power system, along with demand-side management measures.
- Emergency response and restoration works to resume electricity and heat supply have already begun. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore electricity and heat to Ukrainian households as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, restoration efforts are hindered by ongoing air raid alerts.
More details on the situation in the power system are available in the briefing by Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov.
