06 March 2025, 15:13

The funds from the Government of Australia will be allocated to key urgent needs of Ukraine’s energy sector.

"We thank our Australian partners for supporting Ukraine and its energy sector during these challenging times. We continue to restore and rebuild the equipment damaged by the enemy, and with the help of our partners, we are bringing light and warmth back to the homes of millions of Ukrainian families," said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko.

It is worth recalling that Australia announced an additional contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund at the end of 2024. Thus, Australia’s total contribution to the Fund has reached approximately €18 million.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 as a joint initiative of Minister of Energy German Galushchenko and EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson under the Secretariat of the Energy Community.

Currently, the announced contributions from partners to the Fund exceed €1 billion. The donors include both the public and private sectors from over 30 countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as international and regional organizations.

Since its establishment, the Fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy workers to restore energy facilities after кussian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities.
