Anatolii Zamulko: Massive Russian attacks have complicated the operation of the energy system in southern and eastern Ukraine

As of December 15, the situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains challenging but under control, Anatolii Zamulko, Acting Head of the State Nuclear and Energy Supervision Service (Derzhenerhonhlad), reported during the “United News” National Marathon broadcast.

“The overall condition of the energy system remains tense. The massive attacks that took place on Saturday and continue daily reduce the reliability of electricity supply to consumers,” he noted.

According to Zamulko, significant outages have been recorded in southern Ukraine, particularly in Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. Energy workers are restoring electricity, but approximately 430,000 consumers remain without power.

The most challenging situation is also in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, where generation capacity is insufficient, requiring extended connection schedules. Energy specialists are doing everything possible to increase electricity supply in these regions.

“Balancing the energy system is currently complicated due to damage to major grids and facilities of NEC ‘Ukrenergo,’ which affects electricity supply schedules. At the same time, emergency restoration work is being carried out around the clock,” Zamulko added.

He emphasized that power outage schedules are being reviewed to minimize inconvenience for the population and ensure the operation of critical infrastructure. Energy workers are making every effort to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.
