Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol took part in a coordination meeting of donors to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, organized by the Energy Community Secretariat in Vienna, and briefed international partners on Ukraine’s key priorities for preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter period and for strengthening the resilience of the energy sector.
During his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the donors and the Energy Community Secretariat for administering the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, emphasizing that this mechanism remains one of the most important instruments for providing rapid assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector under wartime conditions.
“Every contribution to the Fund is a tangible contribution to the stability of energy supply for millions of Ukrainians. Thanks to this support, we are restoring damaged facilities, ensuring the operation of critical equipment, and strengthening the resilience of the energy system,” Anatolii Kutsevol stated.
The Deputy Minister also stressed that preparations for the next heating season are currently in a very active phase, making the attraction of additional grant funding to the Fund particularly important. He noted that one of this year’s key priorities is the establishment of emergency reserves of energy equipment, which significantly reduces response times following attacks.
“We are already working today to ensure that the system is prepared for any scenario next winter. The resilience of the energy system is determined not only by the speed of recovery, but also by the ability to prepare in advance for new challenges and minimize their consequences. This is not only about restoration, but also about enhancing resilience and improving the speed of response to potential damage,” he added.
The Deputy Minister further noted that the possibility of expanding the scope of support provided through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund is currently being considered, including support for the water supply and district heating sectors, which have also suffered damage as a result of Russian attacks.
During his visit to Vienna, Anatolii Kutsevol held bilateral meetings with Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat; representatives of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy; the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership; the German Development Bank (KfW); the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida); and the United Kingdom’s development agency.
During these meetings, the parties discussed continued support for Ukraine’s energy sector, measures to strengthen the resilience of the energy system, and preparations for the upcoming heating season.
The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to donors and partners for their consistent support of Ukraine and underscored the importance of continued coordination of efforts to ensure the stability and resilience of Ukraine’s energy system in the face of ongoing attacks.
